DRIFTS THROUGH VARDA

Drifting, the films, the cinécriture, Varda’s creative process. This open discussion complements the Retrospective Section of the 14th Olhar de Cinema IFF. The conversation will delve into Agnès Varda’s work through a selection of six feature films and four shorts screening at the festival, offering both the audience and panelists the freedom to explore the many pathways her films have opened.

>Camila Macedo
Camila Macedo participa da equipe de seleção e programação do Olhar de Cinema desde 2018. Como curadora, colaborou na realização de outras mostras e festivais, como RIDM – Montreal International Documentary Festival (2022; 2024-), Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro (2022; 2024), Cinefantasy (2021), FIDÉ Brasil (2022), dentre outros. É doutora e mestra em Educação pela UFPR e bacharela em Cinema e Vídeo pela Unespar. Foi responsável pela programação de cinema do Sesc Paço da Liberdade, em Curitiba, durante o ano de 2024. Atualmente, é professora do curso de Cinema e Audiovisual da Unespar.
>Gabriel Borges
Gabriel Borges é pontagrossense, curador, montador e diretor de cinema. Doutorando em História pela UFPR e mestre em Cinema e Artes do Vídeo pela Unespar, Gabriel atua na realização e edição de filmes e na organização e programação de cineclubes e festivais de cinema. Atualmente é co-diretor artístico do Olhar de Cinema – Festival Internacional de Curitiba, diretor artístico do Metrô – Festival do Cinema Universitário Brasileiro e um dos curadores do Cineclube São Bernardo.

Claudia Mesquita
Cláudia Mesquita is a professor in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Communication at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she is a member of the research groups “Poetics of Experience” and “Feminine Poetics, Feminist Politics.” A researcher of Brazilian cinema, Cláudia holds a Master’s and Ph.D. from ECA-USP. She co-authored “Filming Reality: Contemporary Brazilian Documentary” (2008) with Consuelo Lins, co-edited The Other Cinema of Eduardo Coutinho (2012) with Maria Campaña Ramia –published in Ecuador – and, with André Brasil, co-edited “Cinemas of the Earth” (2024).
Silvane Maltaca
Silvane Maltaca is a journalist with a degree from PUC-PR. She currently works in the communications department at Centro Cultural Teatro Guaíra and has nearly twenty years of experience with several TV stations in Curitiba, including RIC TV, RPC, Rede Massa, Lumen, and RTVE-PR. She has produced and edited documentaries such as “Lange, uma viagem naturalística,” “O Paraná na ponta dos pés: 50 anos do Balé Teatro Guaíra,” and the special “Caminhos da Erva-Mate.” Silvane holds a master’s degree in Film and Video Arts from Unespar, a specialization degree in independent production, and is the author of the book “Inspire, Create, and Share: Convergences in the Creative Processes of Agnès Varda,” based on her academic research.
