Synopsis
1983. After a year and a half of filming, Frederico Füllgraf releases this feature-length documentary, which closely follows families displaced from their lands and destined to be submerged by the future reservoir of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant. The film captures pivotal moments from social movements and the leaders fighting for life and productive land for those whose destinies were radically altered by the dam — a vital contribution to preserving the memory of one of the most devastating events in Paraná’s history. Frederico Füllgraf
Frederico Füllgraf is an award-winning screenwriter and director specializing in documentary film. He graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts (DFFB) and holds a Master's degree from the Free University of Berlin. As an associate producer and investigative reporter in South America for Germany's Public Broadcasting Network and DW World, he directed mini-series and documentaries broadcast in over thirty countries. A writer and literary translator as well, he is the author of works such as “A Bomba Pacífica” (Editora Brasiliense, 1988) and “Morrer a Sós em Berlim” (Editora Record, 2021).
