Synopsis
Catalan filmmaker Albert Serra offers a provocative and hypnotic portrayal of bullfighting, focusing on the young Peruvian matador Andrés Roca Rey. Through his meticulous style, the documentary delves into the grandeur and brutality of this performative act, capturing the sensuality of its movements and the restrained intensity in every gesture. Within this violent yet captivating choreography – shaped by the ritualistic beauty of its gestures and the weight of tradition – Serra crafts a precise exploration of masculinity, where the bull’s elusive presence remains forever just out of reach.
