Synopsis
Erasing, accelerating, slowing down, and layering noise onto archival footage are not just techniques but figurative tools that Kamal Aljafari skillfully deploys in his filmmaking. Here, he transforms these gestures into a narrative about how archives, rather than merely reflecting the past, call for accountability to the future. Through a sophisticated interplay of images – most shaped by the colonizer’s gaze – the film reframes the Palestinian issue as deeply tied to the core of the Zionist project: the material and symbolic erasure of an entire population from their land.
